York Gin stars on ITV as drinks expert describes it as ’beautiful’

York Gin’s collaboration with North Yorkshire’s Michelin-starred Star Inn has played a starring role on national TV.

York Gin Old Tom appeared on the Gin Masterclass on ITV’s Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh.

The programme’s drinks expert Andy Clarke along with all the guests including Amanda Redman and Kelvin Fletcher loved the gin - with Alan Titchmarsh saying it is ‘’delicious’ and Amanda Redman saying it is ‘gorgeous’.

After describing York Gin’s sustainable approach to gin making, Andy Clarke said of York Gin Old Tom: ‘The edge of sweetness is beautiful. It’s a really great example.’

Kelvin added that it was his favourite from the range of gins on the show - and he loved the bottle design.

Drinks experts have described it as one of world’s best gins - and it won a record 98 out of 99 points at the International Wine & Spirits Competition.

York Gin Director Natalie Hall said: ‘We’re thrilled to see our beautiful Old Tom gin being given the praise it deserves on national TV.

Andy Clarke mentioned the association with gin and cats. Cats and York and gin go back centuries. The cat is York’s symbol - and it even has its one Cat Trail of cat statues attached to buildings around the city. Meanwhile cats have been associated with gin ever since the 18th Century, regularly appearing on labels - including York Gin’s!
