York Gin Shop, Pavement - York's best shop 2023
The shop on Pavement is housed in the 16th Century Sir Thomas Herbert's House.
It was crowned York's best shop in 2023 - the third time it has won the title.
Judges loved the amazing service, the quality of the gins and gifts and the ambience of the shop.
We have a gin refill station - where customers can refill any 700ml spirit bottle for a discount.
The incredible Tudor building is one of the most photographed of York's many landmarks.

Gin Tasting Experiences
Our hour-long gin tasting experiences are fun, fascinating and delicious. Everyone who attends loves them.
Currently held on Friday and Saturday evenings from 6.30pm in the York Gin shop, Pavement. Here's what you get:
- A guided taste of our full range of gins
- Two full G&Ts with paired Fever-Tree tonics, garnishes and ice
- Tips on how to taste gin like a pro (a skill you'll use when you drink all future G&Ts)
- Learn how gin is distilled - and lots of other gin knoweldge
- Find out the stories behind each of the six York Gins
York Distillery | Tastings & Events
York Distillery is our city centre boutique distillery, opening late summer 2024. It is a working distillery which also houses York Gin's five-star tasting classes plus a gin school and other events. York Distillery has been purpose-built in the delightful grounds of Middleton's Hotel on Skeldergate - within York's city walls. Guests can see the gins being made, make a bottle of gin of their own and learn tricks and tips of gin and spirit tasting. York Distillery opens late summer 2024.
