York Gin Grey Lady wins gold at London Spirits Competition
We have added to our tally of gold medals with a big win at the London Spirits Competition.
York Gin Grey Lady - inspired by the reputed ghost inhabiting the city’s Theatre Royal - won top honours at the prestigious competition. The result was announced on 5 April 2022.
The gin is flavoured with nine classic botanicals along with extra citrus and Earl Grey tea. The latest win means five out of York Gin’s range have won gold medals at the world’s top spirits competitions.
Last year, York Gin Grey Lady was one of Gin Magazine’s Recommended gins of 2021.
York Gin’s Emma Godivala said: ‘Lots of our customers love York Gin Grey Lady - we think it may be down to the citrusy bergamot in the Earl Grey. It’s subtle but really lovely. ‘The Sunday Telegraph’s Susy Atkins describes it as “a masterpiece in subtlety”, and we’re delighted it’s been recognised with its 92 points out of a possible 100 in London.
‘You never get bored of winning a gold medal. It’s as much of a thrill today as it was when we won our first gold three years ago. And we’ll keep improving and innovating so all our gins are as brilliant as they can be.’
Sid Patel, CEO of event organizer Beverage Trade Network, said: ‘Spirits brand consumers are looking for a comprehensive experience when drinking a spirit. The spirit needs to hit all the right notes to be enjoyed again and again. So, at the London Spirits Competition, we evaluate spirits that contribute to a spirit’s overall drinkability. Along with the quality, spirits are also assessed for their appearance and value.’
